Whole feeders are the entire rabbit fur and all.
We euthanize all our rabbits with C02. CO2 is an approved method of euthanizing small animals approved by the American Veterinary association.
The rabbits are placed in a large Rubbermaid tub with fresh hay on the bottom. The lid is closed and the co2 gas is turned on slowly. The rabbits will fall asleep. They just don't wake back up.
I believe this is the most human method and this is important to me. Also C02 does not leave any residual build up in the blood stream so it does not affect the nutritional quality of the meat.
After the rabbits are euthanized, they are bagged, weighed, vacuum sealed and immediately placed in the blast freezer that is set at -30 degrees.
