Q: Is there a minimum order?
A: 5 lbs is the minimum for ordering frozen goods. This excludes dehydrated goods and supplements which can be purchased for a flat rate shipping fee of $9.30 regardless of quantity.
Q: Do you have samples for me to try?
A: We offer a "sampler pack" either 5 lbs, 10 lbs, or 50 lbs This is on the raw feeders link.
Q: How much is shipping?
A: Shipping is based on location and weight. You can view shipping rates by setting up an account, Add items to your shopping cart and then proceed through check out. This will bring up the shipping options. You are not obligated to purchase unless you click on CONFIRM ORDER at the end of check out.
Q: What is the maximum amount you can ship?
A: I can ship any amount 5 lbs and over but it is limited to 50 lbs of product per box. The most economical way to ship is in 50 lb product increments. This is also the most cost effective. Dehydrated and Supplements do not apply to the 5 lb minimum.
Q: What is the best way to keep my products frozen during shipping?
A: The more that fits in the box [50 lbs maximum] the better off you are. Smaller sizes will thaw faster. Example: if you are a 3 day transit order the 5 lb sizes. 5 lb package will take longer to thaw then 1 lb packages.
Q: My shipping weight is different then the product weight.
A: For shipping calculations we must figure in the weight of the products as well as the insulated box weight and the weight of the dry ice and freeze packs. This is added at an additional 15 lbs for the shipping calculator. Example, 50 lbs of product ordered [1 box] would show a 65 lb shipping weight.
Q: I paid for dry ice and there is only a freeze pack in my box?
A: Dry Ice is frozen carbon dioxide, a normal part of our earth's atmosphere. It is the gas that we exhale during breathing and the gas that plants use in photosynthesis. It is also the same gas commonly added to water to make soda water. Dry Ice is particularly useful for freezing, and keeping things frozen because of its very cold temperature: -109.3°F. Dry Ice changes directly from a solid to a gas -sublimation- in normal atmospheric conditions without going through a wet liquid stage. Therefore it gets the name "dry ice." As a general rule, Dry Ice will sublimate at a rate of five pounds every 24-36 hours in a insulated cooler. This is why we use both dry ice and freeze packs. The freeze packs will continue to keep the products at the desired temperature after the dry ice has dissipated.
Q: Do you charge sales tax?
A: PA sales are charged 6% sales tax.
Q: Do you do bulk orders or co-op orders?
A: Bulk orders and co-op orders receive a flat shipping rate of $14 per box for orders over $1,000.00. You can place the order directly on line. Once the total reaches $1,000.00 you will get the flat rate. Bulk orders take 2-4 weeks to fill. Co-op orders can be done individually and still pay the flat rate but a separate account needs to be set up. Email me for this option.
Q: Do you allow farm pick ups?
A: Absolutely, weekends are the best for me. I ask for 1 weeks notice for pick ups. Place your order online and choose the costumer pick up option at check out. I will email you to set up a pick up time and send driving directions.
Q: Can you do custom orders not on the website?
A: If you are looking for something not listed email me and I can see what I can do.
Q. When can I expect my order to ship?
A: We ship frozen goods Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. There are many factors that determine your ship date. First and foremost is if the item is in stock. I try my best to keep everything in stock but we do run out and need time to process more.
Second is your transit time. If you are a 3 day transit, for example, and order on a Wed I would not ship your order till the following Monday because we need 3 full business days to get your item to you with out it sitting in a warehouse thawing over a weekend.
The day the order ships does not count as a transit date. Example a 2 day transit shipped on a Monday would get to you on Wednesday.
Q: Can you give me medical advise for my animal?
A: I am not a vet and can not give you specific medical advise. I offer many links on the website for feeding a species appropriate diet. Look at the information box and click on raw diet info. Our products are intended to be fed raw. If you are offering kibble [death in a bag] and trying to feed your pet raw at the same time you are asking for digestive upset. Again educate your self on a species appropriate diet. Your pet will thank you.
Q: Can I cook your food?
A: Carnivores were designed to eat raw meat, bones, and organs. Please do not feed cooked bones to your pets. If you must cook then only cook products that are boneless.
Q: Your bag says to keep frozen. My dog will not eat this frozen? [Yes I have had this question emailed more then once]
A: Thaw it first. You can thaw in cold water or in fridge. Do not thaw in microwave. You can refreeze the unused portion if not used in 2-3 days.
Q: How long can I keep this in the freezer or fridge?
A: Shelf life minimum 6 months in freezer and 2-3 days in fridge.
